Death by A Thousand Breaths
A D&D-inspired role-playing game
In Death by A Thousand Breaths, players become unlikely heroes working together to infiltrate a toxic power plant and stop the air pollution threatening a small town. This story-driven, D&D-inspired game challenges players to think creatively, collaborate, and fight for environmental justice in a world that mirrors ours.
I created four original illustrations to bring the game’s narrative to life. Each piece supports a key moment in the storyline—capturing the tension, teamwork, and urgency that define the players’ mission. I focused on moody atmospheres, dynamic compositions, and a sense of grit that echoes both the danger of the plant and the resilience of the community fighting back.
This project was part of Gaming for Justice™, an initiative by Mycelium Youth Network that uses storytelling and role-play to teach environmental awareness and empower young people through imaginative play.
